Detailed Itinerary of the Chimur Hot Springs Tour
We will pick you up from your respective hotel between 3:50 AM to 4:00 AM. You can relax in the car while we drive to the city of Paucartambo, where you will have the option of visiting the old colonial bridge and having breakfast.
Then we will continue the journey for two more hours until we reach the town of Chimur, from there it is only a short 15 minutes drive until we arrive at the medicinal hot springs of Chimur.
The Thermal Baths of Chimur are special due to the composition of the water that has medicinal effects and the lush green surroundings, as we are already at the borders of the Peruvian jungle with its wonderful diversity of flora and fauna. You will have enough time to fully relax and relish this amazing place.
After enjoying the medicinal thermal baths, we will return to the town of Chimur, where we will have a delicious lunch in one of the local restaurants.
Finally, we will return to the city of Cusco, arriving there at 7 PM.

How to get to the hot springs of Chimur?
You have two routes that lead to the Chimur Hot Springs from the city of Cusco:
- Route: Cusco – Calca – Ampares – Chimur
- Route: Cusco – Paucartambo – Challabamba – Chimur.
Cusco – Calca – Ampares – Chimur Route
This is the shortest route, it takes 4 hours to get to the hot springs of Chimur. However, it is a bit dangerous because the road is not asphalted, so it is not recommended during the rainy season.
Cusco – Paucartambo – Challabamba – Chimur route
This is the longer route, it takes about 5 hours to reach the thermal baths of Chimur. However, it is less dangerous as this route is asphalted and we additionally have the option to visit Paucartambo, a city full of customs and picturesque streets.
In a previous briefing, you will have the option to choose between the two routes. Yet, depending on the season the first route might not be available.
When is the best time to visit the Hot Springs of Chimur?
The best time to visit the hot springs of Chimur is during the dry season from April to October as there is a lower chance of rain and generally more sunlight.
However, with some luck, you will also find sunny days during the rainy season.

- The rainy season (from November to March)
What is the Chimur full-day tour like?
The full-day tour to the hot springs of Chimur offers you two options, you can do the tour in 1 or in 2 days. The latter option includes camping and night baths.
The Chimur hot springs are located on the borders of the Peruvian jungle so the climate is rather hot, which is why you have various pools with different temperatures to find the one that suits you. The scenery here is sensational, very characteristic of the Peruvian jungle.
The tour starts from the city of Cusco, leaving very early in the morning, and depending on the route you want to take, you can have breakfast in Paucartambo or Ampares.
If you prefer to travel along the Paucartambo route, you will have the opportunity to visit a colonial bridge where we can make a stop, take some photos and visit briefly the town.

The big difference between the thermal baths of Lares and the thermal baths of Chimur is that the hot springs of Lares have better infrastructure, and are only 3 hours away from the city of Cusco. The hot springs of Chimur are about 5 hours away from the city of Cusco and are more difficult to reach.
