Itinerary

Machu Picchu Full-Day Tour

The Machu Picchu Full-Day Tour starts with an early pick-up from your respective hotel at the previously coordinated time by one of our representatives. Then we will drive you for 2 hours to the Ollantaytambo train station where we will take the train, “Expedition train” or another service of your choice, to Aguas Calientes. The train ride will take 1 hour and 45 minutes until we arrive in the picturesque town also called Machu Picchu Pueblo.

Once we arrive we will go to the bus station and drive up to Machu Picchu, the ride will take 40 minutes until we arrive at the famous UNESCO World Heritage for which there are no words to adequately describe it. After all, it is one of the seven wonders of the world which is why it is such an astounding archeological site surrounded by an impressively beautiful landscape.

The guided tour of the Machu Picchu citadel will take about two hours, whereby you will have enough time to learn about the Inca culture, take some amazing photos, and marvel at this world’s wonder.

After your visit to the Machu Picchu citadel, we will take the bus down to Aguas Calientes. Here, we will leave you enough free time to stroll along the cozy alleys, check out the many shops and have lunch in one of the local restaurants.

Thereafter we will meet at a previously coordinated time to take the train back to Ollantaytambo and from there back to Cusco.

Optional: Buffet lunch in Machu Picchu Pueblo: El Mapy Restaurant with an additional cost of only $20.00 (Does not include hot or cold drinks).

What is Machu Picchu?

Machu Picchu is the site of an ancient Inca city, high in the Andes of Peru. Situated at 2430 m.a.s.l., Machu Picchu is known as “The Lost City of the Incas”. It is one of the most famous and spectacular archaeological sites in the world, which makes a visit to Machu Picchu even more impressive and unforgettable.

Where is Machu Picchu located?

It is located in the region of Cusco, province of Urubamba, district of Machupicchu, in the Sacred Valley of the Incas, 80 kilometers northwest of the city of Cusco – Peru. Right at the foot of Machu Picchu is where the Urubamba River flows, a river that crosses the mountain range and originates in the canyon.

Hows the climate in Machu Picchu?

Machu Picchu is located between the Andes Mountains and the Amazon jungle, which is why Aguas Calientes has a warm and temperate climate, with an average minimum temperature of 12 °C and an average maximum temperature of 24 °C.

When is the best time to visit Machu Picchu?

The dry season is from April to October which is generally speaking the best time to visit Machu Picchu as there is a lower chance of rain.

The Inca archaeological site is located at an altitude of 2438 m. / 7972 ft. above sea level.

Are there any discounts on the price of the Machu Picchu Picchu Ticket?

  • Children’s discount: Children under 8 years old do not pay for the Machu Picchu ticket. Children from 8 to 17 years old can buy the Machu Picchu ticket at a discounted price. To do so, they must send a copy of their passport.
  •  Discount for students: Students with a university card can get a discount on the price of the Machu Picchu tickets. To do so, they must send a digital copy of their valid student card.
  • Discount for CAN People belonging to the Andean Community of Nations (CAN): Peru, Colombia, Ecuador, and Bolivia; also have access to a discount on the price of the Machu Picchu ticket.
