We will start in the morning with hotel pick-up between 6:30 and 7:00 a.m., followed by a journey of approximately 40 minutes. Our first stop will be the archaeological site of Chinchero, where you can explore Inca ruins and admire its agricultural terraces.
Additionally, you will see the church and colonial tower, built on top of Inca temple foundations. We will also observe local artisans demonstrating traditional weaving techniques.
We continue our journey to Moray, an Inca agricultural experimentation center featuring circular terraces with microclimates used for plant domestication, acclimatization, and hybridization.
Later, we will visit the Maras Salt Mines, used since pre-Inca times. This impressive site has more than 3,000 shallow salt pools managed by approximately 380 families. The salty water comes from natural springs emerging from the Qoripukiu hill (“Golden Spring”).
Afterwards, we will enjoy a delicious buffet lunch in Urubamba, prepared with fresh products from the Sacred Valley VIP.
Next, we head to the archaeological site of Ollantaytambo, which in Inca times was an important administrative, military, religious, and economic center. Here we will visit its main stone structures, such as the impressive terraces, the Temple of the Sun, and the Princess Baths fountain.
Our final stop will be the archaeological site of Pisaq, where we will appreciate its advanced agricultural terraces and irrigation systems that allowed the cultivation of the finest corn in the world.
At the end of the Sacred Valley VIP tour, we return to Cusco, arriving at approximately 7:00 p.m.
