Overview

1. Day 01

   Altiplano Lagoons, Dalí Desert and Red Lagoon

   Begin the journey from San Pedro de Atacama and cross into Bolivia to explore the Eduardo Avaroa Reserve. Discover the White, Green and Red Lagoons, volcanic landscapes, hot springs, geysers and high-altitude areas inhabited by flamingos, vicuñas and viscachas.

2. Day 02

   Rock Valley, High-Altitude Lagoons and Andean Villages

   Explore the volcanic formations of the Rock Valley, remote Altiplano lagoons and the Inca Canyon. The day combines desert scenery, Andean wildlife and traditional villages across southern Bolivia.

   Accommodation: salt hotel.

3. Day 03

   Uyuni Salt Flats, Incahuasi Island and Train Cemetery

   Watch the sunrise over the Uyuni Salt Flats and visit its main attractions, including Incahuasi Island, the Salt Eyes, Salt Museum, Colchani and the Train Cemetery. Enjoy vast white landscapes and memorable photography opportunities.

4. Day 04

   Hito Cajón Border and Return to San Pedro de Atacama

   Travel back across the Bolivian Altiplano to the Hito Cajón border. After completing the immigration procedures, continue to San Pedro de Atacama, where the tour ends.

   Note: this programme requires a minimum of two passengers. The schedule and route may change depending on weather, border procedures and road conditions.

  DAY 1San Pedro de Atacama – Blanca, Verde & Colorada Lagoons – Villamar Village

  We will begin our journey to the Uyuni Salt Flat in Bolivia from San Pedro de Atacama, with hotel pick-up at 6:30 a.m. We will then board a minibus and head to the border between Chile and Bolivia. Upon arrival, we will complete immigration procedures for both countries. After crossing Bolivian immigration, we will switch to a 4x4 jeep with a capacity for 6 passengers. Now, our journey to the Uyuni Salt Flat begins!

  The tour enters the Eduardo Abaroa Andean Fauna National Reserve, a protected and highly visited area in Bolivia, located at an altitude of 4,300 meters above sea level.

  During the first day, you will enjoy breathtaking views of the Altiplano, along with its unique wildlife adapted to the harsh high-altitude conditions, some of which are endangered. The most common birds in the area are Andean, Chilean, and James’s flamingos, which inhabit the lagoons, as well as vicuñas, foxes, and vizcachas. Other highlights include the lagoons or water mirrors, the Salvador Dalí Desert, hot springs, and the Sol de Mañana geysers.

  We continue our journey to Laguna Colorada, a breeding site for more than 30,000 flamingos. Its most remarkable feature is how the color of the lagoon changes to pink depending on the wind, due to thousands of tiny algae organisms. Afterwards, we head to our lodge for the night.

  DAY 2Villamar Village – Rock Valley – Andean Flora & Fauna – Salt Hostel

  Breakfast at the hotel.

  On the second day of our journey, we will visit the Stone City, a valley of volcanic rock formations ejected from the Andes mountain range. Here you will find remarkable shapes such as “The World Cup” and “The Camel”.

  Afterwards, we will visit high-altitude lagoons such as Vinto Lagoon and Katal Lagoon (also known as Black Lagoon). Then we will head to the Inca Canyon, where we can observe the rich Andean flora and fauna, including llamas, vicuñas, vizcachas, rheas, and foxes. We will then explore traditional Andean villages of Bolivia, and in Julaca we will enjoy craft beers at the historic train station.

  Finally, we will end the day at the Salt Hostel, where we will spend the night in double and triple rooms.

  DAY 3Salt Hostel – Uyuni Salt Flat – Incahuasi Island – Uyuni (End of Tour)

  On the third day, we will witness the stunning sunrise over the Uyuni Salt Flat, a 12,000 km² salt desert located in southwestern Bolivia, at an altitude of 3,650 meters above sea level in the Andes Mountains. It is one of the world’s most important lithium reserves.

  We will then visit Incahuasi Island, the Salt Museum, the Salt Eyes, the salt mines, the village of Colchani, and the Train Cemetery. We will also have a 1 to 2-hour stop in Uyuni to explore the town before returning to Villamar.

  On the way, we will pass through the Andean villages of San Cristóbal, Culpina K, and Villa Alota, before arriving back in Villamar, where we will spend the night.

  DAY 4San Pedro de Quemez – Hito Cajón – San Pedro de Atacama.

  Breakfast at the hotel

  On the fourth day, we will begin our journey to the Hito Cajón border (approximately a four-hour drive). Upon arrival, we will go through the immigration procedures (Bolivia–Chile) and then change to a minibus for our return trip to San Pedro de Atacama. The tour is expected to conclude around 2:00 p.m.
