    Welcome to La Paz and transfer to your hotel. Enjoy a free day to rest and adapt gradually to the altitude before beginning your Bolivia adventure.

    Flight from La Paz to Rurrenabaque

    Fly across the Royal Andes to Rurrenabaque, the gateway to the Bolivian Amazon. Enjoy the afternoon at leisure to explore this peaceful tropical town.

  3. Day 03

    Rurrenabaque, Yacuma River and Amazon Pampas

    Travel to the Yacuma River Municipal Reserve and begin a wildlife adventure through the Bolivian Amazon Pampas, with opportunities to observe caimans, monkeys, capybaras, turtles and tropical birds.

    Amazon Wildlife and Pampas Adventure

    Pink River Dolphins and Return to Rurrenabaque

    La Paz City Tour and Moon Valley

    Reception and transfer to the hotel of your choice by a representative of our travel agency. This day will be free for acclimatization, as the city of La Paz is located at 3,640 m a.s.l.

    Make sure to drink plenty of water and coca tea, and walk slowly to minimize the effects of altitude.

    In the morning, transfer to the airport for your domestic flight to the town of Rurrenabaque. This 50-minute flight will be a unique and impressive experience.

    The flight departs from the city of El Alto at an altitude of 4,150 m a.s.l. and arrives in Rurrenabaque at 228 m a.s.l. It flies over the Royal Andes Mountain Range and ends in the Bolivian Amazon.

    Reception and transfer to the accommodation of your choice.

    You will have the afternoon free to explore this beautiful town.

    At the agreed time, pick-up from the accommodation and departure from Rurrenabaque by land transport. The journey will take approximately 3 hours, passing through the cattle towns of Reyes and Santa Rosa del Yacuma. Along the way, it is possible to observe animals and birds typical of the Pampas. Lunch in Santa Rosa del Yacuma.

    In Santa Rosa, you will pay the entrance fee to the Municipal Protected Area, followed by arrival at the port.

    We continue by river transport along the Yacuma River to our lodge. The journey will take approximately 3 hours, sailing slowly to allow wildlife observation, including lizards, caimans, capybaras, monkeys, turtles, and various birds. The guide will provide the necessary information.

    Arrival at the eco-lodge, where you will relax in hammocks and enjoy a refreshing welcome juice typical of the region while rooms are assigned.

    We will go to a strategic spot to watch the sunset and then return to the lodge.

    Buffet dinner at the dining area. After dinner, we will take a boat ride with the engine off and flashlights to observe the eyes of caimans, crocodiles, and nocturnal birds. The guide will explain the differences between them.

    Overnight at the lodge in the Yacuma River Municipal Reserve – Pampas.

    Early in the morning, we will take a boat ride with the engine off to listen to the birds singing and the different sounds of the animals, as well as to watch the sunrise. We will return to the lodge for a buffet breakfast in our restaurant.

    After breakfast, we will provide rubber boots and cold or natural mineral water. We will go out by motorboat and continue on foot in search of different species of snakes such as anacondas and cobras, among others. We will also look for other bird species such as the rhea, jabiru stork, eagles, and more.

    At midday, we return to the lodge for a buffet lunch. In the afternoon, we go out by motorboat in search of a suitable place for sport fishing of piranhas, and we will also navigate further to look for more animals and birds. Dinner and overnight stay.

    In the morning, buffet breakfast.

    After breakfast, we will navigate to the area where the pink dolphins are found to swim and interact with them, receiving information from the guide about these animals.

    We will return to the lodge, observing and taking photos of different animals and birds along the way.

    We will have lunch before returning by motorboat to the port of Santa Rosa de Yacuma, where we will arrive at 13:30 hrs. At the tourist port, we continue by land transport back to Rurrenabaque. Arrival in Rurrenabaque and transfer to your chosen accommodation.

    A representative of our travel agency will transfer you to the airport for your return flight to the city of La Paz, where you will be welcomed, and we will begin our city tour of approximately 3 hours and 30 minutes.

    We will visit the main tourist attractions such as the Witch Market, Plaza Murillo, where the Cathedral, the Government Palace, and the Congress are located.

    We then continue to the famous Jaén Street, where the municipal museums are located. Afterwards, we head to Killi Killi viewpoint to enjoy an amazing view of the city of La Paz.

    To change scenery, we go to the southern area, passing through Miraflores, Obrajes, Calacoto, La Florida, and Aranjuez, until we reach the Valley of the Moon. This place features interesting and beautiful land formations created by wind and water. We will take a walk around the area and finally transfer you to the hotel of your choice.

    We will pick you up from your hotel to transfer you to the town of Copacabana.

    This journey takes approximately 3 hours and 30 minutes. Along the way, we will observe the Royal Andes mountain range and the vast high plateau.

    We will cross the Tiquina Strait to reach the Copacabana peninsula. Arrival in the town of Copacabana.

    In Copacabana, we will visit the Copacabana church, where the miraculous Virgin of Copacabana is located. If we are lucky, we may witness the “ch’alla”, the blessing of decorated cars parked outside the church.

    We then continue to the town of Yampupata, a route that offers beautiful views of Lake Titicaca and the agricultural terraces surrounding the sacred lake.

    Arrival in Yampupata, where we will take our private boat to the Sun Island.

    We will pass by the Inca stairway and the fountain of youth, observing the beautiful agricultural terraces that resemble a true Eden.

    After lunch, we return to Yampupata, Copacabana, and then to the city of La Paz.

    Early in the morning, we will transfer you to the airport for your domestic flight to the city of Uyuni, where our representative will be waiting to welcome you.

    At an appropriate time, we begin our visit to the Train Cemetery, where the first locomotives arrived in Bolivia in the 18th century for the transport of minerals between Pulacayo and Antofagasta.

    We continue our visit to the great Tunupa Salt Flat. Our next stop is the town of Colchani, where locals sell salt handicrafts and demonstrate the salt processing.

    Then we enter the salt flat itself, the largest white lake in the world, with approximately 10,500 km².

    Our visit continues to the Salt Eyes, Salt Pyramids, and the former Salt Hotel. We then arrive at Incahuasi Island, a true oasis in the middle of the salt desert, where you may take a walk (subject to registration and payment) through this unique cactus-covered island.

    Afterwards, we head to our first overnight stop in the town of Villa Candelaria.

    After breakfast, we will head to the Ollague Volcano viewpoint, an active volcano located between Bolivia and Chile.

    We continue our journey to the Altiplanic lagoons, where we will observe the first flamingos. We will pass by the Kañapa, Hedionda, and Honda lagoons. Our route crosses high passes and the Siloli Desert, where we will find the natural monument known as the Stone Tree.

    After taking beautiful photographs, we continue to the viewpoint of the Red Lagoon. After registering at the Eduardo Avaroa National Park, we go to the viewpoint to observe the thousands of flamingos that inhabit this stunning lagoon.

    Our next destination is the small town of Huayllajara.

    Return to La Paz (b – l)

    This day we wake up early to observe the fumaroles, which are most active in the morning. This is also the highest point of our trip, at 4,900 m a.s.l. We continue to the hot springs, where you may enjoy a refreshing and therapeutic bath if you wish.

    Then we head to the southernmost point of our journey, the Green Lagoon, located in front of the Licancabur Volcano.

    Our return route continues directly, passing rural settlements such as San Cristóbal, a model mining town. Arrival in Uyuni, where you will have a few hours of rest.

    Later, your bus will take you back to the city of La Paz.

    Early in the morning, arrival in the city of La Paz. You will be transferred to your hotel of choice. After breakfast, we depart towards the epic city of Tiwanaku, capital of the pre-Inca culture. Tiwanaku is located 72 km from La Paz and near the southeastern shores of Lake Titicaca.

    During its peak, the capital of Tiwanaku was one of the largest cities in the world and is considered the cradle of all civilizations in the Americas. The pre-Inca archaeological complex is dated, according to archaeological studies and carbon-14 testing, to around 1580 BC.

    Among the main places of interest in Tiwanaku that we will visit are the Kalasasaya Temple, the Semi-Subterranean Temple, the Akapana Pyramid, and the legendary Sun Gate.

    We will also make a stop at Puma Punku, where massive stone blocks are located.

    Afterwards, we will enjoy a typical lunch based on quinoa soup and llama meat as the main dish.

    In the afternoon, we return to the city of La Paz.

    In the morning, we will begin the most exciting adventure: a downhill bicycle ride.

    Our starting point is La Cumbre, part of the Royal Andes mountain range, located at 4,750 m a.s.l. From here, we descend along a paved road that offers stunning views, from rugged rocky canyons to lush subtropical landscapes.

    During the journey, we will make several stops to rest and take photographs. After passing a control checkpoint where cyclists pay their entrance fee, we continue the descent.

    From a nearly ghost town called Chuspipata, we begin the true adventure on the so-called “Death Road”. This road is approximately 4 meters wide in some sections, with cliffs ranging from 200 to 300 meters.

    At certain times, the weather may be foggy and then suddenly clear. We pass waterfalls and enjoy an exuberant landscape.

    Finally, we arrive at our resting point located at 1,200 m a.s.l., where you can shower and have lunch.

    Return to the city of La Paz.
