It is a new alternative to the Inca Trail, where you can discover its natural attractions and the warm contact with the local population. The route is suitable for those with an adventurous spirit, an open mind, and no issues with vertigo. This Inca jungle tour through tropical forests is a well-known route that includes biking activities (approximately 55 km) and a walk to the town of Aguas Calientes. During this Inca Trail journey, you will visit some archaeological sites, pass through the base of the town of Santa María (high jungle), and explore the Machu Picchu park on foot. In addition, on the fourth day, we will enjoy a visit to the Machu Picchu citadel during a mystical sunrise. Accommodation is basic, except in the town of Aguas Calientes, where it is more comfortable.

    We depart from your respective hotels in the morning at 07:00 a.m. We leave Cusco by private transport towards the Sacred Valley of the Incas, observing beautiful landscapes and towns such as Chinchero and Ollantaytambo. We then continue along the road where we will see Inca terraces, until we reach Abra Málaga (4,350 meters above sea level), where we can observe snow-capped peaks such as Wakaywillka (Veronica) at 5,650 meters above sea level, arriving approximately at 12:00 p.m.

    From here, we begin the downhill bike descent through the high Andean region towards the high jungle forest, where we can appreciate the flora and fauna and feel the change in climate, passing through towns such as Alfamayo and Huamanmarca (we will stop to visit these places), as well as Amaybamba and Huyro, enjoying the scenery and river crossings, until we reach our destination, Santa María, where we will have dinner and spend the first night.

    We wake up early in the morning at 06:00 a.m. After breakfast, we begin walking along the banks of the Urubamba River for approximately 2 km. Then we ascend along a mule track that takes us to an ancient Inca trail in the high jungle, where we will enjoy the region’s wildlife and fruit trees until we reach the entrance to Wamanqasa mountain, the highest point, where we will walk about 5 km through impressive steps and enjoy views of the snow-capped Salkantay (6,265 m.a.s.l.).

    We then continue our journey through the valley to reach our lunch in the village of Qellomayo around midday. Afterward, we continue towards the Cocalmayo hot springs, arriving around 4:00 or 5:00 p.m. After relaxing there, we walk for about 30 minutes to reach the town of Santa Teresa, where we will have dinner and spend the second night.

    We wake up at 07:00 a.m. After breakfast, we begin walking along the banks of the Urubamba River, crossing bridges and enjoying waterfalls until we reach the Hydroelectric station, where we can see the Machu Picchu mountain (short visit to Intiwatana). We then follow the railway track until we reach the lunch spot at km 116.

    After a good rest, we continue our journey, arriving around 03:00 or 04:00 p.m. in the town of Aguas Calientes. Dinner and overnight accommodation.

    After breakfast, we will take one of the first buses that will take us to the Machu Picchu citadel, where, with a bit of luck, we will enjoy a beautiful sunrise. Your guide will help you discover its enclosures, archaeological engineering, as well as the great history and culture of the Incas. Then you will have free time to enjoy the llamas and show your photography skills.

    Those who still have more energy have the option to hike Huayna Picchu Mountain, where you can enjoy one of the best views of the Machu Picchu citadel.

    Afterwards, you will descend back to the town of Aguas Calientes, where you will take the train to Ollantaytambo and continue by bus to Cusco (arrival approximately at 22:00 hours).
