Pallay Punchu of Apu T’acllo is an impressive mountain range of sharp peaks, geological formations sculpted over time, resembling an Andean poncho (traditional Andean garment) with pigments of colors such as magenta, brown, and red. The varied soil coloration offers an incredible view of this destination. It also provides a stunning view of the “Langui” lagoon. This attraction is located in the Layo region, Cusco department, and reaches a maximum altitude of 4,700 m (15,419 ft).

    Cusco – Cusipata – Langui Lake – Layo – Pallay Punchu – Cusco

    The adventure begins very early with pickup from your hotel in Cusco and a drive to Cusipata, where you will enjoy breakfast before continuing toward Langui Lake and the small village of Layo.

    From Layo, begin a challenging hike of approximately 3 to 4 hours toward Pallay Punchu del Apu T’acllo, a remarkable mountain formation located above 4,000 meters. Along the route, admire high-Andean landscapes, llamas, alpacas, local communities and panoramic views of the region.

    At the viewpoint, you will have time to appreciate the mountain’s colorful formations and distinctive sharp ridges, take photographs and rest before beginning the descent.

    After returning to Layo, board the transport back to Cusipata for lunch. The journey then continues to Cusco, arriving in the evening.

    Our adventure begins in the city of Cusco with pick-up at 4:30 am (time when we will pick you up at your hotel) by our guide together with our driver. Then we head to the small town of Cusipata, where we will have breakfast. We continue the journey to the beautiful Langui Lagoon and the small village of Layo. Along the route, we will see beautiful landscapes and animals such as llamas, alpacas, and some local villages of the region.

    When we arrive in Layo, we will begin the hike up the mountain. The approximate walking time is 3 to 4 hours, and above 4,000 meters we will enjoy panoramic views, as well as the flora and fauna that this beautiful region offers. Finally, we will reach our destination: “Pallay Punchu of Apu T’acllo” or the Mountain of Sharp Peaks. Once there, we will have enough time to enjoy this incredible place.

    After visiting Pallay Punchu of Apu T’acllo, we will return to the small town of Layo, where our transport will be waiting to take us back to Cusipata, where we will have lunch. We will also make some stops at viewpoints to appreciate the landscapes this region offers.

    The trip ends in the city of Cusco in the evening.
