Overview

1. Day 01

   Cusco – Chinchero – Maras – Moray – Misminay

   Depart from Cusco to visit a traditional textile center and the archaeological site of Chinchero. Continue to the Maras Salt Mines and the circular terraces of Moray, two of the most remarkable attractions in the Sacred Valley.

   In the afternoon, arrive at the Mullakas Misminay community, where local families will welcome you with traditional music and customs. Enjoy a local lunch, walk to the Wañinmarca viewpoint and take part in an evening of stories, music and stargazing beneath the Andean sky.

2. Day 2

   Misminay Community Experience – Cusco

   After breakfast, join community activities and learn about traditional Andean weaving using wool and natural dyes.

   Depending on the agricultural season, you may also discover ancestral farming techniques and traditional tools used by local families. The experience ends with a pachamanca lunch and a farewell ceremony before returning to Cusco.

  DAY 1Cusco – Salineras de Maras – Moray – Mullaka Misminay Community

  Breakfast at the hotel. Our travel agency representative will pick you up from your hotel at approximately 7:00 a.m. We will begin this adventure by heading to the town of Chinchero, where we will visit a textile center (Awana), where you will learn about the traditional textile-making process.

  We then continue to the archaeological site of Chinchero, where the official tour guide will provide a brief explanation of its function during Inca times. Continuing the journey, we will make a short stop at the Raqchi viewpoint, where you can enjoy views of part of the Sacred Valley of the Incas and take photos.

  Next, we head to the Maras Salt Mines, where we will observe the natural salt formations with more than 3,000 pools currently worked by the local community. The next stop is the Moray Archaeological Site, known as the Inca Agricultural Experimentation Center, admired for its impressive circular terraces.

  After this beautiful cultural and natural tour, we will head to the Mullaka Misminay Community around 2:00 p.m. Upon arrival, we will receive a warm welcome with music, dances, and traditional clothing from the community members. We will enjoy a typical lunch in a local house reserved for our visitors, followed by a short rest.

  In the afternoon, we will take a short walk to visit the community and the beautiful Wañinmarca mountain in the upper area, where we will find the famous Maras Balcony. From there, we can enjoy a privileged panoramic view of the main mountains of the Sacred Valley and the Maras plains, as well as a complete view of the Moray Archaeological Complex.

  At the accommodation, we will stay in traditional community rooms in Misminay and become part of the local family experience. In the evening, we will enjoy a typical dinner, a night bonfire under the sky where we can observe the stars, along with stories, myths, songs, dances, and a warm drink kindly offered by the community members—creating an unforgettable experience.

  DAY 2Mullaka Misminay Community – Cusco

  A Nutritious Breakfast Will Be Served In The Host Family Home. This Breakfast Is Prepared With Andean Cereals Such As Kiwicha, Cañihua, Toasted Corn, Among Others. Today We Will Carry Out Two Activities To Interact With The Community.

  Activity 01: Textile Production Demonstration

  Experience The Ancestral Process Of Andean Textile Making, Produced With Sheep Wool Dyed Using Plants, Minerals, And Natural Ingredients Under A Traditional System Called “Away.” This Process Uses Handmade Tools Such As Small Wooden Boards And Animal Bones Crafted By The Local Inhabitants.

  Activity 02: Agriculture Demonstration

  This Activity Allows Us To Observe These Practices Firsthand. Depending On The Season And Agricultural Calendar, The Community May Carry Out Farming Activities Using Ancestral Techniques And Traditional Andean Tools Such As The Chaquitaclla And The Ox-Drawn Yunta.

  Lunch Will Be A “Pachamanca.” After Our Activities, We Will Return To The House Where Our Lunch Will Be Ready. Pachamanca Is A Traditional Dish Made With Beef And Chicken, Seasoned With Herbs Such As Huacatay, Chili, Cumin, Pepper, Among Others, Along With Andean Products Such As Potatoes And Corn, Cooked On A Base Of Preheated Stones, Giving It A Unique Flavor Different From City Cuisine. At The End, We Will Have A Farewell Ceremony With The Community Members. At 3:00 P.M., We Will Say Goodbye To The Mullaka Misminay Community And Head Back To The City Of Cusco.
