    Cusco – Chinchero – Maras Salt Mines – Moray – Cusco

    The tour begins with pickup from your hotel in Cusco and a scenic drive to Chinchero, a traditional Andean village known for its colorful textiles. At a local textile center, you will learn about wool preparation, natural dyeing and ancestral weaving techniques passed down through generations.

    Continue to the Maras Salt Mines, an impressive complex of more than 3,000 salt pools that has been used since pre-Inca times. During the visit, discover how salty spring water is distributed through channels and how Maras salt is traditionally harvested.

    The final stop is Moray, a remarkable archaeological site formed by circular terraces. These terraces are believed to have been used by the Incas to experiment with crops and different microclimates.

    After completing the tour, return to Cusco’s historic center at approximately 2:00 p.m., leaving the afternoon free for other activities.

    Transfer Cusco – Chinchero

    We embark on a scenic 1-hour journey through the beautiful Sacred Valley of the Incas until we reach Chinchero (3,762 m.a.s.l.), known as the “Rainbow Town” for its colorful textiles.

    Visit to Chinchero – Andean Textile Center

    We explore the artisan community of Chinchero, where local weavers will demonstrate the traditional process of llama wool production, from shearing to dyeing with natural pigments. You will learn about ancestral weaving techniques passed down through generations, preparing us to continue to the Maras salt mines.

    Tour of the Maras Salt Mines

    We arrive at the spectacular Maras Salt Mines, also known as Salineras de Maras Peru. This salt complex includes more than 3,000 salt pools that have been in operation since pre-Inca times.

Maras, Peru is located 74 km from the city of Cusco. This colonial town preserves noble coats of arms on the doors of many houses, remnants of its importance during the Viceroyalty period due to its proximity to the Maras salt mines. It also features a church built of adobe that houses paintings from the Cusco School.

Chinchero is located 28 km from Cusco, on the route to Urubamba. This town is home to the remains of the royal estate of Túpac Inca Yupanqui and a colonial temple built over Inca structures. Its main attraction is the artisan market, where agricultural products are exchanged and textile garments made using ancestral techniques are sold.
