Recommendations

  • Bring a rain poncho: the Sacred Valley of the Incas is known for its mild climate; however, rain can occur at any time. Carry a rain poncho, especially from January to March when rainfall is more frequent.
  • If traveling without a tour, purchase your Tourist Ticket: independent travelers can buy entrance tickets at each archaeological site. However, the most economical option is the Cusco Tourist Ticket, which includes access to sites such as Pisac, Ollantaytambo, Chinchero, and Moray.
  • If possible, stay in the Sacred Valley: while most travelers stay in Cusco, towns in the Sacred Valley offer high-quality accommodation and a better climate due to lower altitude. For example, Urubamba offers hotels ranging from standard to 5-star categories.
