This program allows us to observe birds during the day and at night. Accompanied by our expert naturalist guides specialized in birdwatching, we will visit different areas where we can find a great diversity of bird species. If your passion is observing birds in their natural habitat, the perfect corner of the world is in Iquitos, Peru.

  1. Day 01

    Iquitos – Amazon Lodge

    Depart from Iquitos and travel by boat along the Amazonian rivers toward the lodge. After lunch, take a guided walk around the surrounding area to discover the local flora and begin searching for different bird species.

  2. Day 02

    Lodge – Yanayacu River

    Begin the day with an early morning expedition into a remote forest to search for the wattled curassow, locally known as the piurí, and other native Amazonian birds.

    In the afternoon, enjoy a boat trip along the Yanayacu River and a nearby lagoon while watching the sunset and looking for additional species. At night, join an excursion to observe nocturnal birds.

  3. Day 03

    Corrientillo Lagoon

    Explore rainforest trails in search of birds, monkeys, butterflies and insects. Later, take a canoe excursion across Corrientillo Lagoon to observe species associated with flooded forests and aquatic habitats.

    The day concludes with a guided night walk around the lodge.

  4. Day 04

    Amazon River Islands – Iquitos

    At sunrise, visit the islands of the Amazon River to search for endemic birds and species from different Amazonian ecosystems.

    During the boat trip, you may also see giant water lilies and look for pink and grey river dolphins. After lunch, return to Iquitos for your transfer to the hotel or airport.

    A representative from our company will transfer you by land from your hotel or the airport.

    At approximately 9:30 a.m., we will depart by river toward the lodge. After a short rest, we will enjoy lunch.

    In the afternoon, we will take a walk around the surrounding area to identify the local flora and the bird species we are looking for.

    Dinner.

    Overnight: Lodge.

    At dawn, we will begin an expedition to a remote forest to observe the famous wattled curassow or Piurí (Crax globulosa). After this experience, we will return to the lodge for lunch.

    In the afternoon, we will take a boat ride along the Yanayacu River in search of more bird species. Later, we will enjoy the sunset over a lagoon.

    Dinner.

    At night, we will take an excursion to observe nocturnal birds.

    Overnight: Lodge.

    We will start the day with breakfast. If the water level allows, we will take a long walk through the area.

    Here, we will not only observe birds, but also insects, different species of monkeys, colorful butterflies, and, with some luck, you may even see an anaconda crossing the trail.

    After the walk, we will return to the lodge for lunch.

    In the afternoon, we will take a canoe excursion to Corrientillo Lagoon to search for more bird species.

    Dinner.

    At night, we will enjoy a guided night walk.

    Overnight: Lodge.

    At dawn, we will take an excursion to visit the Amazon Islands and observe endemic birds.

    Breakfast will be served on the boat.

    We will then continue along the other side of the Amazon River to look for birds from the upland rainforest.

    You will also have the opportunity to swim in the same area where pink and gray river dolphins can be found.

    Later, we will observe the largest aquatic plant in the world, the Victoria Regia.

    After lunch, we will begin the transfer back to Iquitos, followed by land transportation to your hotel or the airport.
