Overview

Day 01
Arequipa to Chivay
Depart from Arequipa and travel through scenic Andean landscapes, the Salinas and Aguada Blanca National Reserve, and the Andes Viewpoint at 4,800 meters above sea level. Along the way, you may spot vicuñas, native birds and the volcanoes surrounding Arequipa.
After lunch in Chivay, visit the La Calera hot springs. Overnight stay at a hotel in Chivay.
Day 2
Condor Cross and Colca Valley
After breakfast, visit the Condor Cross viewpoint to admire the depth of the Colca Canyon and watch Andean condors soaring above the valley.
On the return journey, see the traditional villages of Pinchollo, Maca, Achoma and Yanque, as well as the Antahuilque and Choquetico viewpoints. After lunch in Chivay, enjoy a free afternoon. Overnight stay in Chivay.
Day 03
Chivay to Arequipa
Enjoy a free morning to relax or use the hotel facilities. Around midday, you will be picked up from your hotel for the return journey to Arequipa.
Important: The final schedule will be confirmed at the destination. For guests staying outside Chivay on a shared service, the order of activities may vary.

Itinerary

Departure from Arequipa via Yura, passing along the slopes of Chachani, Pampa de Arrieros, and the Pampa Cañahuas National Reserve, where you may spot the elegant vicuña. We will continue through Vizcachani and the Pampas de Toccra, an area where different species of birds can be seen.
Then, we will pass near the Chucura crater before reaching Patapampa, located at 4,800 meters above sea level, and the Mirador de los Andes, where you can admire the volcanoes surrounding the city of Arequipa.
Afterward, we will descend to the town of Chivay for lunch, not included.
In the afternoon, visit the La Calera hot springs. In the evening, dinner is not included.

After breakfast at the hotel, we will leave early for the Cruz del Cóndor viewpoint, located 41 km from Chivay. This is one of the most spectacular places in the canyon, where condors can almost always be seen soaring at great heights.
On the way back, we will enjoy extraordinary views of the towns of Pinchollo, Maca, Achoma, and Yanque, as well as the Antahuilque and Choquetico viewpoints.
Halfway through the route, we will arrive in Chivay for lunch, not included. The afternoon will be free for you to relax and enjoy the surroundings.

Free morning.
At midday, you will be picked up from your hotel for the return trip to the city of Arequipa.

Breakfast on this day will depend on the hotel transfer schedule. The tour schedule will be confirmed at the destination.

FAQ

Yes. At the Cruz del Cóndor viewpoint, condors can usually be seen throughout the year. However, the best time to watch them fly is between 7:00 a.m. and 9:00 a.m., when thermal currents are stronger.

During the dry season, there is a higher chance of seeing them.

The 3-day Colca Canyon Tour includes accommodation in tourist hostels or ecolodges located in the valley towns, such as Chivay or Cabanaconde. All accommodations include a private bathroom and hot water.

You may also request an upgrade to 3-star or 4-star hotels.

Bring warm clothing for the cold nights, sunscreen, a hat, sunglasses, a reusable water bottle, a camera, and a swimsuit if you plan to enjoy the La Calera hot springs.

Do not forget a light jacket for the day and any personal medication you may need.
