    Puno – Sillustani Chullpas – Puno

    Discover one of the most important archaeological sites in the Peruvian Altiplano on this half-day tour to Sillustani from Puno. After being picked up from your hotel, travel through beautiful Andean landscapes toward the archaeological complex overlooking Lake Umayo.

    During the guided visit, explore the famous Sillustani chullpas, impressive funerary towers built by the Kolla culture and later used and refined by the Incas. Some of these remarkable stone structures rise more than 12 meters above the surrounding landscape.

    Learn about the history, architecture and ancient burial traditions of Sillustani while enjoying panoramic views of Lake Umayo. After the visit, return to Puno and transfer to your hotel.

    We begin the tour to the Sillustani chullpas with pick-up from your hotel at approximately 1:45 p.m. From there, we will start our adventure.

    Then, we will travel by bus for about 50 minutes to the north of the city of Puno, enjoying the highland scenery along the way.

    Once in Sillustani, one of the largest necropolises in the world, we will begin the guided visit through the site.

    During the tour of the Sillustani Archaeological Complex, we will admire the impressive landscapes and the peaceful waters of Lake Umayo.

    The guide will explain the history of the chullpas, enormous funerary towers built by the Colla culture and later perfected by the Incas.

    Many of these chullpas are over 12 meters high. Their design challenges the laws of gravity and balance.

    They are unique structures in the Americas, although they share some architectural similarities with the Koricancha Temple in Cusco.

    We will finish the tour to the Sillustani archaeological site with the return to Puno, where we will drop you off at your hotel.
