About The Valley of the Moon:
The Valley of the Moon in San Pedro de Atacama in Chile is known for its unique landscapes, which look like straight out of a science fiction film. Many millions of years ago, there was a lake in this area, whose bottom was slowly raised by earth movements and earthquakes.
These geographical changes gave rise to what is now known as Cordillera de la Sal in the Atacama Desert in Chile, South America.
Valle de la Luna Chile is precisely a part of this mountain range, the most visited by tourists due to its special appearance, and there you can enjoy a set of views of unparalleled beauty that closely resembles the lunar landscape.
In the Moon Valley- (Valle de Luna), San Pedro de Atacama in Chile, the beautiful mantles of calcium sulphate blend with the green, red, yellow and blue cliffs, drawing the most diverse and surprising shapes.
From west (sunrise) to east (sunrise), there is a high relief called the Domeyko range, whose highest point is the Quimal hill, at 4,275 metres.
In the Moon Valley- (Valle de Luna), San Pedro de Atacama in Chile, the Cordillera de Sal, a low sector known as the pre-Andean depression (where the valley is located) and finally the great Andes mountain range.

What to see and visit there?
The Salt Cave is the first place to visit in the Valley of the Moon in the Atacama Desert, to enter, you must have a torch or the one on your mobile phone is enough, and you must not be claustrophobic.
You can go, tour the caves on a circuit that will have you exit the same way you entered, so it is impossible to get lost.
You will pass through narrow ravines, tunnels, some steep climbs and trails and here you can see how rain and wind have eroded the rocks forming these natural CHILE streams and trails.
These caves are not recommended for very small children, pregnant women and people with reduced mobility, it has some sections that are difficult to pass.
The Main Dune, Major, is usually the stop that takes the longest for visitors, as it is also the one that attracts their attention the most due to its viewpoints of the valley and the huge road that crowns the site.
You walk along a trail that takes about, around 20 minutes to reach the top of the dune, where it is not possible to enter and from there on there are two trails, one that borders the cliff overlooking the valley and another that enters the ravine with a privileged view of the Cordillera de la Sal, Chile.
Both have their own charm, so we recommend doing both, La Duna Mayor, is the most recommended place to watch the sunset, one of the biggest charms of the place, The Valley of the Moon in San Pedro de Atacama in Chile, South America.
