About the Apurímac Canyon in Peru:

Deep in the southern Andes of Peru, in the department of Apurímac, the prince of rivers in the world—the Apurímac River—bursts forth from the bowels of the earth, roaring like a lion through immense fissures, relentlessly carving out the majestic Apurímac Canyon, the deepest and longest canyon on the planet.
The canyon’s geology, stretching 720 km from its source, becomes dramatically evident in the Tincocc sector. Further along, over a 360 km stretch, the “Apurímac Canyon” stands as a symbol of uniquely complex geography, featuring snowcapped peaks reaching up to 5,991 meters above sea level (Saqsarayocc) and vertical cliffs plunging as low as 890 meters above sea level (Pasaje).
At the same time, it holds immense historical and cultural value, as its surroundings are home to archaeological sites linked to the renowned Wari, Chanka, and Inca civilizations.
The canyon twists and turns spectacularly, creating viewpoints, thermal springs, narrow passages, deep depressions, lookout towers, indescribable stone walls, and daring bridges at the base of eternally snow-covered mountains, along with unimaginable archaeological remains—clear evidence of human resilience in the face of nature’s extremes.
This incredible journey leads us through a series of remarkable archaeological remnants and an extraordinary diversity of flora and fauna, making the Apurímac Canyon a destination of major tourist significance.
