About Pomacanchi Lagoon

Pomacanchi Lagoon was originally known as Qeroqocha during the Auqaruna Period (which aligns with the Pre-Inca era, Early Horizon Period, and Archaic Period). Later, it was renamed Pomacanchi Lagoon due to its location within the territory of the Qanchi people and its proximity to the town of Pomacanchi in Cusco, Peru.
The name Qeroqocha appears in the book Música Incaika by musicologist and composer Policarpo Caballero Farfán—a fascinating nod to its ancient roots.
