More Information
History of the Parque de las Reservas or (Magic Water Circuit)
Initially, the site where the water park now stands belonged to the Parque de la Exposición. At the end of 1926, its construction began, ordered by the then president Augusto B. Leguía.
It was baptized as de la Reserva in honor of the reservist troops that participated during the War of the Pacific in the defense of the city of Lima in the battles of San Juan and Miraflores. The construction of the Parque de las Aguas was completed in 1929.
Just north of this park stood the Old National Stadium, which was replaced in 1952 by the current National Stadium.
On the southwest side of the park is the residence of the US ambassador. In 1980, the Parque de las Aguas Limas was declared a Monumental Urban Environment, a status that was ratified in 1986. In those years, the entire perimeter of the park was fenced off.
When was the Magic Water Circuit inaugurated?
The Magic Water Circuit of the Parque de la Reserva was inaugurated on 26 July 2007, and in 2009 it was awarded the Guinness World Record for being the tallest fountain complex in the world in a public park.
It is one of the largest municipal projects, an icon of the city of Lima and a symbol of the recovery of Lima’s public spaces.
