7.Christ the Redeemer of Rio de Janeiro
It is a 30-meter-high statue of Art Deco design that crowns the Corcovado mountain representing the body of Jesus of Nazareth. This work, inaugurated in 1931, was the result of the work of the Polish-French sculptor Paul Landowski and the Brazilian engineer Heitor da Silva Costa, who also had the collaboration of the Frenchman Albert Caquot and the Romanian artist Gheorge Leonida, the latter being responsible of the face of Christ.

In 2001, the Swiss Bernard Weber promoted the New7Wonders Foundation project to promote the protection of both natural heritage and human-built heritage and, in this way, foster an appreciation for the diversity that exists on Earth.
How Many Natural Wonders of the World are there?
The project, in the initial phase, had a total of 454 nominees; then a second phase was carried out in which 261 candidates passed the round; of these, 77.1 remained, among which a panel of experts chose the 28 finalists who participated in the last stage of the contest
Those 28 finalists were submitted to an open vote controlled by the website that owns the brand new7wonders.com, where the conditions were stipulated and published and the evolution of the query was shown. Finally, on November 11, 2011, the 14 that were voted the most were announced, and hours later the “seven natural wonders of the world”, provisionally chosen. 1. Komodo Island
Komodo Island is a small Indonesian island found in the Lesser Sunda Islands. The island is of volcanic origin and is located in the Pacific Ring of Fire. Its most distinctive feature is that it is the place where the famous Komodo dragons or Komodo monsters live. This animal is the largest lizard on the planet with a length that ranges between two and three meters and weighing around seventy kilos.
2. Table Mountain
Table Mountain is a massive flat-topped mountain located in Cape Town, South Africa. It is at the northern tip of the Cape Peninsula and forms an impressive depression towards the basin of the city.
It is surrounded by high and steep cliffs of which the Pico del Diablo and the Cabeza de León stand out.
3. Ha-Long Bay
This bay located in the north of Vietnam, near the border with China, is characterized by its karst elements and its spectacular islets of different shapes and sizes.
The bay contains a dense assemblage of 1600 monolithic limestone islands.
4. Amazon Rainforest and Amazon River
The Amazon River is located in South America and crosses Peru, Colombia and Brazil. Its channel carries more fresh water than any other river, which makes it the largest river in the world. The Amazon is a huge region that includes the largest tropical forest on Earth located in the Amazon basin, that is, the area drained by the Amazon River and its tributaries.
5. Underground river of Puerto Princesa
In the island province of Palawan in the Philippines is the impressive underground river of Puerto Princesa.
The river empties into the South China Sea after winding 8.2 kilometers under limestone.
6. Jeju Island
Jeju Island is located in the Korean Strait and belongs to South Korea. It is a volcanic island composed mainly of basalt and lava.
7. Iguazú Falls
The Iguazú Falls are a set of 275 waterfalls that are located between the Misiones Province of Argentina and the Paraná State of Brazil. The fall and circulation of the water have created a deep canyon with amazing vertical walls. The Devil’s Throat is the highest concentration of flow of the Iguazu Falls, which are in turn the waterfalls with the highest flow on Earth.
