Itinerary

DAY 01: WELCOME TO SÃO PEDRO DE ATACAMA  

Transfer from Calama airport to the hotel in San Pedro de Atacama.

DAY 02: HIDDEN LAGOONS OF BALTINACHE

Breakfast at the hotel.

Morning at leisure.

We will start our excursion at 14:00 hours from our office. The beautiful lagoons are about 60 kilometres away and are hidden in the middle of the most arid desert in the world. During the excursion, we will drive along the road leading to the six magnificent lagoons that form a breathtaking landscape.

However, only the first and last lagoon can be used for bathing in salt water. These lagoons have the unique property of allowing us to float in the salt water, just like in the Dead Sea. Before arriving in San Pedro de Atacama, we will watch the sunset over the desert, which is a spectacle to behold.

DAY 03: GEYSERS DEL TATIO TOUR + ASTROPHOTOGRAPHY TOUR

EXCURSION TO THE GEYSERS

During the Tatio Geysers tour, we will leave San Pedro de Atacama early in the morning towards the Altiplano, climbing through the majestic hills and mountains of the Andes.

After a comfortable drive of 1 hour and 30 minutes we will arrive at the Geysers, a truly exceptional natural wonder with 8 active geysers situated at an impressive altitude of 4200 metres. 

In the midst of this breathtaking landscape, we will savour a delicious and nutritious breakfast before embarking on a guided exploration of the geothermal field, surrounded by an enchanting spectacle of steam columns.

Back in San Pedro de Atacama, we will make a stop at the Putana River, where we will be able to see the beautiful landscape of the Putana River, where we can observe the native flora and fauna that inhabit this place.

Finally, free time in San Pedro de Atacama.

8.00 pm: ASTROPHOTOGRAPHIC TOUR (duration – 2h:30 min tour).

Our tour will start with pick up at our office, from there we will board a comfortable transport to the activity site, which is 10 km away.

Once there, you will enjoy our Astro Photography Tour in a space with minimal light pollution, ideal for stargazing.

The tour consists of three stages, including a talk about the Andean cosmovision and you will also have the opportunity to observe the planets through a telescope, revealing details that are not visible to the naked eye.

Finally, you can capture an unforgettable photo with the starry sky as a backdrop that will leave you spellbound.

DAY 4: SAN PEDRO DE ATACAMA – LAGUNAS BLANCA, VERDE, COLORADA – PUEBLO VILLA MAR

At 6:30 in the morning, the journey to Salar de Uyuni (located in Bolivia) will kick off in San Pedro de Atacama. We will board a minibus that will drive us to the Chilean-Bolivian border, where we will go through the immigration processes of both countries.
After the required steps are completed on the Bolivia side, we will switch to a 4WD Jeep that has the capacity to accommodate six passengers. This is when the adventure to the Salar de Uyuni will begin!

On the first day of the tour, you will be able to marvel at the beauty of several lagoons/mirrors, including the White Lagoon, the Green Lagoon, and the Dali Desert-colored Lagoon, as well as thermal pools and the Geyser morning sun. Along the way, you will get to witness the stunning views of the highlands and observe the distinct wildlife of the area.

DAY 5: VILLAGE OF VILLAMAR – VALLEY OF ROCAS – ANDEAN FAUNA AND FLORA – HOSTAL DE SAL

At 8 am, we will keep our journey going by taking a tour of the City of Stone (Valley of Rocks). These rocks were thrown out of volcanoes in the Andes Mountains range and took on the form of the World Cup, the Camel and other shapes.

Next, we’ll tour the highland lagoons, such as Vinto lagoon which is renowned for its stunning scenery, the so-called Black lagoon of Katal, Inca Canyon, the abundant wildlife of Sora (including llamas, vicuñas, vizcachas, ñandús, and foxes), and the Bolivian Andean towns of San Agustín and Julaca, where we can sample a variety of craft beers. At night, we’ll stay at Hostal Sal, which offers double and triple rooms.

DAY 6: SALT HOSTEL – SALAR DE UYUNI – INKAWASI ISLAND – FINAL UYUNI

On the six day, we will have the chance to witness the stunning sunrise of the exotic surroundings of Salar de Uyuni. It is located around 3650 meters above sea level on the southwest of Bolivia, which is in the Andes Mountains.

This salt flat is one of the biggest lithium reserves in the world with a span of 12,000 km². Then, we will tour the Inkawasi Island, the salt museum, eye of the salt flat, salt mines, the Colchani town, train cemetery, and finally the town of Uyuni, (We will have a break (1 to 2 hours) in Uyuni to explore the city before returning to Villamar).

At 15:30 hrs. Approx. We will start the return transfer to the town of Villamar without before making a change of vehicle in Uyuni. On the way we observe the Bolivian Andean towns such as San Cristóbal, Culpina K, Villa Alota and then we arrive at the town of Villamar, to spend the night.

DAY 7: VILLAMAR – HITO CAJÓN – BOLIVIA – SAN PEDRO DE ATACAMA.

On the 7th day of the morning we return to the border of the cajón landmark, a trip of 4 hours, once we arrive at the border, the respective immigration procedures of (Bolivia – Chile) are carried out and the mobility change to a minibus and then return at approximately 2:00 p.m. to San Pedro de Atacama.

Important information

  • Regarding the rainy season (January to March) the end of tour can be considerably delayed, so it is advisable not to take any transport or flight to another place for the same day.
  • The itinerary may vary in adverse weather conditions or due to force majeure to guarantee the safety of travelers, the visit to Incahuasi is usually replaced by the view of the sunset in the salt flat. This change of itinerary usually takes place between the months of March to December.
  • So, the order of the visits could be altered, but it will not affect the content of the program. The schedules of the entrances and transports could be subject to modifications.

Padre Le Paige Archaeological Museum: The R. P. Gustavo Le Paige Archaeological Museum is located in the commune of San Pedro de Atacama, in the II Region of Antofagasta, Chile. This museum belongs to the Universidad Católica del Norte

Aldea de Tulor: the village of Tulor is one of the oldest archaeological centers in northern Chile, which has millenary constructions made of clay. The Tulor Village is at least 2,300 years old, a time when the San Pedro River naturally watered the land.

In the surroundings of San Pedro de Atacama you can see impressive landscapes and rock formations typical of volcanic activity and wind. One of the biggest attractions is the:

Valle de la Luna: It is a depression surrounded by desert dunes and hills with impressive sharp ridges, located on the Cordillera de la Sal. It is part of the Los Flamencos National Reserve.

Tatio Geysers: El Tatio is a field of geysers located in the Andean mountains of northern Chile, in the Antofagasta Region, at about 4200 meters above sea level. It is the largest group of geysers in the southern hemisphere and the third largest in the world, after Yellowstone and Kronotski Nature Reserve, whose fumaroles create impressive plumes of steam that can be seen between 6 and 7 in the morning.
