The Inca Trail is one of the most iconic destinations for trekking enthusiasts in the world, combining natural beauty, Inca archaeology and a unique cultural experience. However, its high demand and strict regulations make availability a central issue for those wishing to make this trek.
Why is the availability of the Inca Trail limited?
- Peruvian Government Regulations
- To protect the route and the environment, the government has limited the number of daily permits to 500 people, including guides, porters and tourists.
- This limit is strictly supervised by the Peruvian Ministry of Culture.
- High and low season
- High season (May to September): Availability is quickly depleted due to ideal weather conditions.
- Low season (October to April): Although there is less demand, the month of February is completely closed for maintenance.
- Advance booking requirements
- Permits for the Inca Trail usually sell out 6 months in advance, especially for the most popular months.
- We need:
- Original valid passport or identity card
- Telephone number
- International travel insurance
- This limit is strictly supervised by the Peruvian Ministry of Culture.
