  1. Day 01

    Cusco – Tinqui – Upis

    • Transportation from Cusco to the community of Tinqui (3,900 m.a.s.l.).
    • Observation of Andean communities and camelids (llamas and alpacas).
    • Overnight camping in Upis (4,400 m.a.s.l.).
    • Duration: 3 hours of transport + 6 hours of hiking.
  2. Day 02

    Upis – Laguna Ausangate Q’ocha

    • Ascent to Arapa Pass (4,800 m.a.s.l.).
    • Stop at Yana Cocha Lagoon for a picnic.
    • Ascent to Ausangate Pass (4,850 m.a.s.l.).
    • Camping at Ausangate Q’ocha Lagoon (4,650 m.a.s.l.).
    • Duration: 7 hours of hiking.
  3. Day 03

    Laguna Ausangate – Paso Palomani – Jampa

    • Ascent to the highest point, Palomani Pass (5,200 m.a.s.l.).

Itinerary

  • At 05:30 a.m., we take our vehicle to the community of Tinqui. Along the way, we will observe small Andean communities, each with its own customs and traditions. Tinqui (3,900 m.a.s.l.) is where our transportation team awaits to begin the trek.

    Along the route, we have the opportunity to visit some Andean families and observe camelids (llamas and alpacas) at over 4,000 m.a.s.l. Upis (4,400 m.a.s.l.) is our designated campsite. The climate in this area is cold.

    • Hiking time: approximately 6 hours.
