This area is located 30 km southeast of <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/dreamy.tours\/en\/cusco\/\">Cusco <\/a><\/strong>and located at an altitude of 3,050 m.a.s.l. in the district of Lucre, one of the twelve districts of the Quispicanchi Province.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In the upper northern part of the lagoon is the Wari citadel\nof Pikillaqta. The protected natural area is surrounded by the Pikillaqta\narchaeological park that has numerous pre-Inca and Inca remains, as well as\ncountless terraces that were used by ancient cultures to supply the population\nthat inhabited the citadel.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-gallery columns-2 is-cropped wp-block-gallery-1\"><ul class=\"blocks-gallery-grid\"><li the White Heron (Ardea alba), a\nbird whose name in Quechua is &#8220;Wakar&#8221;, one of the 108 species of\nbirds found here. In this tour you can see the lagoon from Huacarpay, but it will be for a maximum of 5 to 10 minutes.
