Ripe weeds gild the ruins through whose empty streets, squares with giant areas, two-story palaces and multi-family dwellings, hundreds of lizards run wearing the gem of their red heads \u00bb.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-advgb-button aligncenter\"><a class=\"wp-block-advgb-button_link advgbbtn-f227f1a9-8522-4d0c-9781-791101995cef\" href=\"https:\/\/dreamy.tours\/en\/cusco\/daily-tours\/south-valley-of-cusco\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><strong>I book my Tour South Valley now!<\/strong><\/a><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Pikillacta in <a href=\"https:\/\/dreamy.tours\/en\/cusco\/daily-tours\/\">Cusco <\/a>Peru<\/strong> is a name assigned after the arrival of the Spanish. Its name in the Incan is unknown, but it is presumed that it was Muyuna (going around in a circle), Muyna or Moh\u00edna. This place is known today as Wakarpay, which is part of the Pikillacta complex which is Peru&#8217;s sacred valley.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>It is also known that the city of Cusco for the Quechuas was something like &#8220;Mecca.&#8221; Thus, each inhabitant of the Tawantinsuyo had as a dream to visit the \u00abcity of the puma\u00bb at least once in his life. Today, the mine is still exploited, and the substructures are completely disturbed.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Pikillacta_Ruins\"><\/span><strong>Pikillacta Ruins<\/strong><span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Pikillaqta is located in the southern part of the Cusco valley, it belonged to the Wari culture that spread from Ayacucho. Piquillacta is one of the things you have to do in <a href=\"https:\/\/dreamy.tours\/en\/cusco\/daily-tours\/\"><strong>Cusco<\/strong><\/a>, along with great visits like Pisac or Ollantaytambo in the Sacred Valley of the Incas; In Piquillacta you can see sharp stone walls, of the purest pre-Inca origin and possibly one of the main cities of the Wari culture of that time.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Qaranqayniyuj\"><\/span>Qaranqayniyuj<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Qaranqayniyuj was the largest settlement after <strong>Pikillacta Ruins<\/strong>. Some of its buildings\nhave the shape of semicircles, built irregularly, part of it is in a natural\nhollow, and the other is in a larger plateau than the previous one.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Choqepucjio\"><\/span>Choqepucjio<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Choquepucjio is one of the most impressive constructions of\nthe <strong>Pikillacta Ruins<\/strong>, they are\nlocated on the left side of the Huatanay river. These buildings have similar\ncharacteristics, constructions of 2 or 3 floors where the first floors are made\nof stone and mud, and the upper floors only of adobe and mud.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Urpicancha\"><\/span>Urpicancha<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Its name could be translated as the \u201chouse of the birds\u201d, it\nis one of the most important structures in Piquillacta and Cusco; It has\nplatforms of extraordinary quality, excellently armed without amalgamation of\nany kind, it is located on a small plateau with a huge mountain behind it, east\nof the Huacarpay lagoon in Cusco.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Kunturqaqa\"><\/span>Kunturqaqa<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Kunturqaqa is simply a large rocky promontory that stands\nout from the Huatanay, west of the city of Cusco its name can be translated as\n&#8220;Rock of the Condors&#8221; and it is understood that they gave it that\nname since the rock has the shape of the head of a condor; however the true\nmeaning of the place is not known.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Amarupata_Platforms\"><\/span>Amarupata Platforms<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Amarupata means &#8220;place of serpents&#8221; and perhaps it\nwas because serpents abounded in this place; These platforms are located\nsoutheast of the city of Lucre, its ancient water channels are magnificent and\nare still used by the inhabitants of the area even now.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"How_to_get_to_Pikillacta_in_Cusco_Peru\"><\/span>How to get to Pikillacta in Cusco Peru?<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>There is no service for this route, therefore we must hire a  <a href=\"https:\/\/dreamy.tours\/en\/tour\/south-valley-cusco\/\"><strong>Tour to the South Valley of Cu<\/strong>sco<\/a> in Cusco.
