CITY OF PUERTO MALDONADO<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Puerto Maldonado is a mixture of natural life and urban joy. The infinite natural green colour that can be seen from the tourist viewpoint is a perfect scenery for photographs. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Among the tourist attractions of Puerto Maldonado is the Tambopata-Candamo National Reserve, which has a total area of 5500 hectares, where it is possible to recognize more than 500 different species of birds, as well as 1000 different types of butterflies, more than twelve hundred different species of plants, among other natural resources that increases the value of the Reserve.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Puerto Maldonado is undoubtedly an excellent opportunity to make a pleasant stopover before and after visiting the depths of the jungle. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

HOW TO GET TO PUERTO MALDONADO?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Here we give you the two options of how to get to Puerto Maldonado:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

  • By air. – Departing from Lima Airport in the direction of Puerto Maldonado, with a duration of approximately one hour and a half.<\/li>
  • By land from Cusco. – First you will have to arrive to the city of Cusco by air, the land route from Cusco to Puerto Maldonado has a distance of 465 Km and a duration of 10 hours approximately.<\/li><\/ul><\/div>\n\n\n\n

    • Urban transport is usually by motorbike taxi, which is a unique experience, as the ride is generally noisy.<\/li>

      WHAT TO DO IN PUERTO MALDONADO<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

      1.-Plaza de Armas<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

      You cannot say goodbye to this city without first visiting the city centre, as it has a wide variety of trees in its surroundings. It provides an unparalleled landscape, being the centre of multiple meetings of those who live in the place.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

      2.- Tambopata-Candamo National Reserve<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

      The Tambopata National Reserve is located south of the Madre de Dios River in the district of Tambopata, it is a natural reserve with the largest protected forests in the world.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

      It is home to a wide variety of animal and plant species, including mammals, birds, reptiles and butterflies.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

      Tambopata is perfect to discover the jungle.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

      3.- Tambopata Butterfly Farm<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

      The Tambopata Butterfly Farm is located near the airport of Puerto Maldonado, is the first and largest exhibition of live butterflies in Peru. It is a farm of butterflies that are bred in captivity.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

      In the Tambopata Butterfly Farm we can find a rustic cafeteria, bar and a boutique with unique local products, it houses more than 30 species of butterflies, as well as flowers, native, medicinal and ornamental plants. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

      4.- Macaw Clay Lick<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

      The Macaw Clay Lick is located within the Tambopata National Reserve, in the province of Tambopata. Just as the play of sounds makes you fall in love with the place, so does the Collpa de Guacamayos Chuncho and Colorado Macaw Clay Lick.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

      Ccollpa in Quechua means “Salty Land”, there on these slopes stripped of vegetation, parakeets, parrots, parrots and macaws gather at different times to consume the salty soil that allows them to digest.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

      5.- Sandoval Lake<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

      This is one of the must-see destinations on the route to the Tambopata National Reserve in the Madre de Dios region.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

      A boat ride on Lake Sandoval is a marvel, as you can paddle across the lake while enjoying the surrounding landscape, the sounds of nature and the company of black caimans as well as the company of turtles.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

      6.- Monkey Island<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

      This is located near Puerto Maldonado about 15 kilometres from the city of Puerto Maldonado, being a place of refuge for monkeys that were recovered by the police service for the protection of wildlife. Here you can also observe ronsoco, black caimans, turtles, herons, cormorants and other species of animals. <\/p>\n
