It is the fifth largest department, after Loreto.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-ps2id-block-target\" id=\"how-to-get\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">HOW TO GET TO PUNO?<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Here we give you the two options of how to get to Puno:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>By land. \u2013\u00a0<\/strong>To arrive to this city we must know that Puno is connected with Arequipa, Cusco and Moquegua, from the city of Lima you arrive with a stopover in Arequipa where the trip takes 17 hours approximately.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>By air. \u2013<\/strong>\u00a0Puno has an international airport called Inca Manco Capac, located in Juliaca, which receives flights from Lima, Cusco and Arequipa. The airport is just over an hour from Puno.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>By rail. \u2013<\/strong>\u00a0It is one of the most striking routes, where you can live a beautiful experience due to its landscapes throughout the journey from the city of Cusco to Puno, with a trip of approximately 10 hours.\u00a0<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-ps2id-block-target\" id=\"currency\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">CURRENCY<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Sol ( S\/ ). is the official currency of Peru.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-ps2id-block-target\" id=\"climate\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">CLIMATE<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>The climate of the city of Puno is cold and dry, with a rainy season of 4 months. The average temperature is 9\u00b0C, with warm days of 24\u00b0C and cold nights with temperatures of 2 to 3\u00b0C.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-ps2id-block-target\" id=\"transport\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">TRANSPORT<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Public transport in the city of Puno includes buses, taxis, trams, trains, suburban railways and bicycles.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-ps2id-block-target\" id=\"accommodation\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">ACCOMMODATION<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Here you will have two options, to stay in a hotel in the city with all the comforts and electronic services, or in a lodge in the camps which are generally rustic.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-ps2id-block-target\" id=\"what-to-do\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">WHAT TO DO IN PUNO<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">1.- Plaza de Armas and Cathedral of Puno<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>The Cathedral of Puno is located in the Plaza de Armas, which was built over a ceremonial place \u201cSupay Kancha\u201d which means the circle of the Devil. The interior of the front of the cathedral is made of silver and contains magnificent paintings of the Cuzco school. In the city of Puno you can visit the following places:&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>The viewpoints surrounding the city and Kuntur Wasi or Puma Uta which offer a beautiful view of Puno, Lake Titicaca and its surroundings.\u00a0<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>The Palace of Justice Puno, which is a two-storey building with a beige fa\u00e7ade and red decorations.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>The church of San Juan Bautista, which contains the image of the patron saint Virgen de la Candelaria, and has three altars.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Lithic Museum of Pukara, which in its interior houses ceramics, sculptures such as monoliths, stelae and zoomorphic figures, the sculpture that stands out is that of Hatun\u00f1aqac.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">2.- Uros floating islands<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>The island of Uros is a totora reed platform, built with reed called totora that grows on the surface of Lake Titicaca. It is one of the artificial floating islands, its inhabitants are called the Uros, an ancestral people currently concentrated on the Collao plateau and in Peru. The floating islands are located in the bay of Puno.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-gallery has-nested-images columns-default is-cropped wp-block-gallery-2 is-layout-flex wp-block-gallery-is-layout-flex\">\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img decoding=\"async\" width=\"640\" height=\"389\" data-id=\"19594\" src=\"https:\/\/dreamy.tours\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/02\/isla-uros-dreamy.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-19594\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img decoding=\"async\" width=\"640\" height=\"399\" data-id=\"19588\" src=\"https:\/\/dreamy.tours\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/02\/la-isla-los-uros-dreamy.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-19588\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img decoding=\"async\" width=\"640\" height=\"399\" data-id=\"19591\" src=\"https:\/\/dreamy.tours\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/02\/los-uros-isal.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-19591\"\/><\/figure>\n<\/figure>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">3.- Taquile and Amantani Islands<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>The islands are a surface of land located on Lake Titicaca, whose inhabitants are basically dedicated to agriculture.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Taquile Island. \u2013 located on Lake Titicaca with an area of 5.72 km, which is inhabited by Quechua families, who are mainly engaged in agriculture and fishing while women are engaged in weaving. The island of Taquile is located 35 km, 3 hours by boat from the port of the city of Puno.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Amantani Island \u2013 It is located on Lake Titicaca and its inhabitants are Aymara who basically work in agriculture.\u00a0 They are concentrated in the village of Amantani. As in Taquile, the inhabitants offer an experiential tourism in the native communities.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-gallery has-nested-images columns-default is-cropped wp-block-gallery-3 is-layout-flex wp-block-gallery-is-layout-flex\">\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img decoding=\"async\" width=\"480\" height=\"600\" data-id=\"19600\" src=\"https:\/\/dreamy.tours\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/02\/ISLA-TAQUILE-DPERU.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-19600\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img decoding=\"async\" width=\"640\" height=\"692\" data-id=\"19597\" src=\"https:\/\/dreamy.tours\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/02\/taquile-punp.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-19597\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img decoding=\"async\" width=\"480\" height=\"600\" data-id=\"19603\" src=\"https:\/\/dreamy.tours\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/02\/isla-Amantani-dreamy-t.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-19603\"\/><\/figure>\n<\/figure>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">4.-Chullpas of Sillustani.<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>The chullpas are located 34 kilometres from Puno, in the Umayo lagoon. Sillustani has around 90 chullpas with the shape of an inverted cone.
