Anthurium Magnificum is mostly found in Columbia, South America, but can be spotted in northern areas of Mexico and some parts of the Caribbean as well. This evergreen plant is marked by velvety, heart-shaped foliage and distinct C-shaped petioles. The marvelous, silver-white veins detail the leaves in a slightly softer, more delicate style compared to the striking patterns on Anthurium Crystallinum.

This specimen prefers bright but indirect sunlight, so avoid direct exposure to prevent leaf burn. To flourish, the plant needs a rich, well-ventilated potting mix that retains moisture well. You can use a soil mix of mulch, perlite, gravel, and sphagnum moss to provide good drainage.

Hailing from a lush, tropical climate, the plant thrives with humidity. Mist the plant regularly or use a pebble tray to ensure sufficient moisture in its immediate space. Fertilize every 4 to 6 weeks during spring and summer, where it grows most actively. The plant can reach an average height of 2 to 5 feet but you will only need to repot it every 2 years or so.

With adequate sunlight and water, Anthurium Magnificum is a relatively low-maintenance plant that brings an instant exotic vibe to your indoor landscape.

Interesting book, dull period
Format: Paperback
As a Marxist historian, Hobsbawm sees the world at this time, as well as the modern world, as a playground for the forces of capitalism. He apologizes for taking a eurocentric approach to world history, while acknowledging that Europe largely determined the course of world events during this period. In spite of the title, there actually isn't much discussion of colonial empires; Hobsbawm seems more interested in how the Age of Empire affected the rulers more than the ruled. His Marxist sympathies are in evidence and at times make his conclusions a bit predictable, but some of his cultural critiques are quite brilliant. The chapter on the dilemmas posed by modern science is exceptional. Reading a book like this seems to me much more interesting than actually living in this period would have been.
